2025: Happy New Year. Bonne Année. Godt Nytår.
Three Kings’ Day, January 6, is the last day of Christmas for us in Champagne. The new year has had a bit of time to land on it’s young legs and take a few first steps into unknown land. We hope, that you and your dear ones have arrived safely and well, maybe even accompanied by one or more champagnes from Soulières? If this is the case, we hope, that the bubbles made the moment even better and tastier. We did what we could ourselves to leave the bad flu of the holidays in 2024, but it wanted to hang our with us a bit longer. Champagne, it was anyway on December 31st: Solliphere 2017 to welcome, Selection 2012 for scallops and Sollissandre withe the cheese. Now you know.
The new vine: Soon we will begin tasting our new organic still wines from 2024. Some spent time in oak casks and others did not, and both exist in Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier versions. The objective is to make a series of champagnes with the AB-logo shown above. That will be your guarantee for our total dedication to grow our grapes in the best possible way seen from our perspective. We started like most winegrowers fully conventionnal in 2009, adapted to the demands of the Viticulture Durable certification to our current organic methods. Now we integrate regenerative practices which combined with biodynamics deepen the our focus underground.
2024 was a very demanding year workwise for us. We managed it rather well as we harvested 8.000 kilos per hectare, which was the average of 2024 in Champagne no matter your methods. The autumn 2024 continued the pattern of 2023: massive rain. We prepare ourselves mentally for another rainy spring. But we hope not. Already now we make use of even the smallest window for work. Like in early January, when Alain with the remnant of a bad flu left to crush branches from pruning the grapevines. This can only be done on frozen days, and we don’t expect many.
2025: Time will show us, what the spring will be up to. What are your own dreams in 2025? Our new year is still so naked and new. But maybe it has a surprise holiday to Northern France in the pocket? Should it be so, you are most welcome to visit and see it all for youself. Please write us for more information about visits, buying champagnes or if you want to know about something else related to champagne.
Our plot champagnes are important treading stones in the direction of producing organic champagne. They are all certified Viticulture Durable en Champagne. We have four different bottles, one in two vintages: Solliage (2013), Sollissime (2015), Solliphere (2014, 2017) and the latest arrival Sollissandre (2018) from last summer. You can read much more about the bottles and the Viticulture Durable-certification in our homepage.
A cheerful tickle inside, that tastes wonderfully well, is the dna of champagne. The bubbles wake up all our senses. They let starry moments tinkle in precious ways. When you pour a glass for your dear ones to spoil them a bit, you spread that magic dust, that the very name of champagne brings along. Our senses pair with the magic of the bubbles, they let the moment light up and sparkle, maybe even live on in our shared memories.
Enjoy it, this precious moment. In 2025 and anytime. We look forward to hear from you.
New Years greetings from Soulières
